Celebrating Virginia Tech service recognitions

Each year, Virginia Tech recognizes employees celebrating service milestones. University events took place April 7 and 15 celebrating 710 employees with a combined 12,415 years of service for the university.

"Virginia Tech is privileged to benefit from the combined knowledge of so many employees who are dedicated to serving our university community, and I am thankful for their work," said President Tim Sands. "We are proud of all they have accomplished during their time here."

“It’s an honor to celebrate these milestones with our faculty and staff,” said Vice President for Human Resources Bryan Garey. “Their dedication and experience have a tremendous impact on Virginia Tech. We proudly honor and recognize their years of service to the university.”

The service recognition program acknowledges employees' service to the university starting at 10 years and continues in five-year increments. Of the employees recognized this year, 28 have served Virginia Tech for 40 years or more, representing more than 1,145 years of combined service.

Employees with 25 or more years of service received an etched Hokie stone, a symbol of strength and stability. The stone reflects the foundational commitment of each employee who receives one. Starting at 40 years of service, employees receive a Hokie stone personalized with their name and years of service.
