Synopsis:

The Juran lab investigates water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions and water components of disaster reconstruction in the international context.

Description:

Dr. Juran's research interests are threefold: (1) human interactions with water; (2) human interactions with disasters; and (3) human interactions with coupled water-disaster constructs.

Dr. Juran is particularly interested in the provision of water and sanitation services and the reconstruction of water and sanitation infrastructure after disasters. The scope of his research is primarily international. Most of his experience is in India, but he has also worked, conducted, and supervised research in Bangladesh, Nepal, Tanzania, Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, for the Republic of Mauritius on behalf of the CDC, and for the State of Iowa.

His ongoing projects examine water security and latrine adoption in coastal southern India. This research involves water quality testing, household surveys, and statistical and geospatial analyses. This research has been funded by agencies such as Fulbright and NASA.
