Kylene Kehn-Hall
Professor of Virology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology
- Director of the Center for Emerging, Zoonotic, & Arthropod-borne Pathogens at Virginia Tech
Her lab studies RNA viruses that cause acute infections, including equine encephalitis viruses, Rift Valley fever virus, and SARS-CoV-2. Goals include 1) the identification of critical host factors, 2) evaluating small molecule inhibitors for their therapeutic potential, and 3) developing novel diagnostic tools. Her research aims to understand how infectious disease impacts brain health and to expand comparative analysis of the neurological sequela between neurotrophic viral infections with traumatic type of injuries to the brain.
