April 2023 Inside the Institute Newsletter

A Message from Rob McCarley
Executive Director, The Fralin Life Sciences Institute

In my first months at Virginia Tech, I have been invigorated by learning about the many exciting activities and accomplishments of the life science community that the university and the Fralin Life Sciences Institute serve.

Most striking is the community’s thirst for learning about life sciences at the interfaces of many disciplines, and the commitment to integrating into those endeavors unique educational and outreach approaches, which are helping pave paths to destinations at the frontiers of research. Please see the Around the Institute and Around the Centers stories below.

It is important to take note of those folks who lead research resources/core facilities--one of the key underpinnings of our investment institute.

Please join them on April 27 in Steger Hall for our first Research Resources Open House. I look forward to many more activities like the open house where we can all learn from each other about pathways to further advance research in the life sciences at Virginia Tech and beyond.

Let’s go Hokies, and let’s go FLSI!

I invite you to take a peek at the first iteration of  "McCarley's Musings and Inspirations", my reflections blog featuring Lessons in Chemistry to Beethoven.
