January 2024 Inside the Institute Newsletter

A Message from Rob McCarley
Executive Director, The Fralin Life Sciences Institute

As the Fralin Life Sciences Institute (FLSI) community looks ahead with excitement for anticipated projects and outcomes in 2024, it is important to recognize your efforts to get to this point.  While it is routine to ask, "What can be done to grow and move in new directions?" we all benefit when that question is posed in the context of "What are the biggest achievements made of late and what has been learned?"

Your accomplishments and day-to-day actions to help others in new ways are a key thread of the fabric that brings us together in the Institute and yields synergistic outcomes.

This month's newsletter provides a tasting of what has been going on around the Institute. I also want to highlight the exceptional portfolio of published research by our affiliated faculty members. Please stop by Steger Hall and check out this diverse representation of research, as we just recently updated the framed journal covers along the corridors.

It is thrilling to be part of a community so committed to excellence and innovation in the life sciences at Virginia Tech and beyond.

Let’s go Hokies, and let’s go FLSI!
