March 2024 Inside the Institute Newsletter

A Message from Rob McCarley
Executive Director, The Fralin Life Sciences Institute

This Tuesday's vernal equinox is a great reminder of beautiful alignment and balance, as well as great things to come. The flowers in bloom let us know that spring is here, and it is time to make the most of the bounty it will bring.

It will not be long before we will be heading into end-of-semester activities and commencement. While I look forward to celebrating the successes linked to these events, I am trying to stay in the present and take in all the collaborations of individuals and synergies of groups across the Institute. Just last week, the Invasive Species Collaborative (note new name that was recently formalized) held their first annual symposium with over 100 attendees from more than 30 units across campus. It made for a powerful exchange about the growing presence of researchers working in the invasive species space at Virginia Tech.

I am also energized by our upcoming second annual research facilities open house & reception on April 24 from 1–4 pm at Steger Hall. Register today to tour/get acquainted with six of our research facilities and learn more about how these services can help support your current and anticipated research project needs.

Let’s go Hokies, and let’s go FLSI!
